Don’t worry about tomorrow, the first lesson we can learn from Jesus is to stop worrying. Worry is unproductive and stunts spiritual growth. It takes us away from what we really need in life. Instead, we should seek God’s kingdom. In this article, we will discover why worrying is so counter-productive and why it’s bad for us. Let’s take a look at each of these lessons in turn.
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Seek First God’s Kingdom
Jesus taught us to seek first the kingdom of God. This is the ultimate goal in life, and if we seek the kingdom of God first, then all of our other needs will follow. Unfortunately, many Christians live according to Maslow’s “hierarchy of needs,” focusing on our physical, emotional, and intellectual needs and neglecting God’s will. However, Jesus’ advice to seek first the kingdom of God is the best way to avoid being caught up in these conflicting priorities.
The phrase “seek first God’s kingdom” can be difficult to understand without a deeper understanding of what it means. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus calls us to run to the Father, to seek God first, and to live for God. This is a profound statement. When understood in its entirety, this verse brings coherence and clarity to our relationships, our justice, and our character. Pursuing Intimacy With God is a spiritual journey that enables us to experience the kingdom of God, and is not simply a religious exercise.
Don’t Worry Because Worry Is Unproductive
In addition to causing tension, worrying is unproductive. While worrying may be helpful, it will ultimately make you less present at the moment. By worrying about things that are outside your control, you won’t make any progress in planning your actions. Worrying about things you can’t control will only waste your mental energy and take you away from making good choices. Similarly, worrying without a plan is unproductive. Hopefully, these tips will help you be a better person in the present.
First, you should understand the difference between productive and unproductive worry. What makes worry productive? If it helps you solve a problem, then it’s productive. Conversely, unproductive worry takes up valuable mental energy and does nothing to solve problems. Worrying is also ineffective when it does not result in concrete actions or problem-solving strategies. So, instead of wasting your energy worrying, try focusing on making the most of your time.
Don’t Worry Because Worry Is A Distraction
Jesus said to not worry about tomorrow because it is only tomorrow and the issues we face today aren’t the same as tomorrow’s. Worry is a distraction from your focus on the things that matter most in life. He said to seek first the kingdom of God and all other things will be added to you. Worry is not the solution to our problems and it is not in our power to control the outcome of events.
In the KJV translation, the word “life” is helikia, a unit of measurement. Thus, we can read, “Who among you can add a cubit to his stature?” In the NIV translation, we find: “Worry is an idle thing.” Worrying does nothing but consume our time. Therefore, it is unproductive and unhealthy.
Don’t Worry Because Worry Stunts Spiritual Growth
There is no doubt that worry stunts spiritual growth. Jesus once said that worry stifles our spiritual progress. While worry can be a natural human emotion, it is not helpful in preventing bad things from happening. Worry should be replaced with trust in God, who is wise, compassionate, and powerful. Let’s discuss a few ways to overcome worry. Hopefully, this article will provide some food for thought.
The word “life” can also refer to our height and stature. The KJV translates this as, “Who among you can add a cubit to his stature?” Worry is illogical and unproductive and can stunt your growth. Instead, focus on the things above, which are more important. It’s time to stop worrying and focus on eternal matters! This will free up your mind for a greater purpose.
Another important way to curb worry is to eliminate unhealthy habits. Drinking enough water is a good start, but you shouldn’t worry about every little thing. If you have an unhealthy habit, try giving up coffee or alcohol. Quit smoking. Meditation and prayer reduce anxiety. And reading Bible verses can help you focus on God instead of your problems. By removing these negative habits, you will find that worrying will diminish. If you struggle with fear, try the 30-Day Prayer Challenge. You’ll be surprised how quickly this habit can transform your life.
Don’t Worry Because Worry Is Unworthy
God’s word tells us that worry is not about him. The reason we need to stop worrying is that worrying is meaningless. We are created in his image and are therefore worthy of Him. Worry is foolish, we do not need to worry because our life is more valuable than our clothes or food. Our clothes and food are of insignificant importance compared to who we are. Worry is unworthy because it robs us of the joy of life.
The Bible says that worry is unworthy because it lowers the believer to a level that he can no longer meet. Worrying is incompatible with faith and causes us to commit sins such as coveting and greed. It causes us to become abrupt and apathetic. In the long run, worry leads us to lose our motivation, standards, and relationships. We need to get rid of worry and turn to trust God.
