Whoever Believes in Him Shall Not Perish – John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
We often see John 3:16 written on highway overpasses. This is a reference to the Bible’s most famous verse, which outlines one of Christianity’s most central doctrines: God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins and give us new lives in Him.
Those who believe in Christ receive forgiveness for their sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and eternal life with Christ in heaven. This is a glorious and awe-inspiring message from the most powerful verse in the entire Bible.
The word “believe” in this verse means to embrace something as true and trust it with your whole heart. It is not a religious word or a clingy one; it is a living and breathing faith that leads to action and results in change in our lives.
The best way to live out the true meaning of this verse is to accept Jesus and His sacrifice on our behalf and commit to living our lives with Him in mind. That is the only way we will be able to experience God’s unimaginable love and enjoy eternal life with Him in heaven. We must also embrace the transforming power of prayer, scripture and devotional time. These are the tools that will help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and prepare you for a lifetime of walking with Him in the power of His amazing grace.
