But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law, he meditates day and night. Psalm 1:2 ESV
Just like it says in Psalms 1:2, do we also feel pleasure when we talk about God’s word and obey it?
Storytelling is one of my friend’s passions as a parent, and one of their joys is seeing their children’s ears glued to their stories. They said, It was heartwarming to see them so thirsty and really listening to every word they spoke. Is God the Father the same? Is He also pleased every time we eagerly listen to His word and stories in the Bible that will be learned? Probably! He repeatedly reminds us to meditate on His word!
In this day and age, many things are grabbing our attention and affection. Do we enjoy meditating on the word of our Lord more or catching up on the lives of others on various social media platforms? Or play ML or binge-watching on the net? Of course, when it’s our pleasure, we’ll give it time—even day and night says the writer of Psalm 1. Just a question, friend: What’s the first thing we reach for when we wake up in the morning and the last thing we put down before going to bed? Is it the Bible?
I will lift up my hands toward your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes.
LET’S PRAY:
Lord, I don’t want to waste my time with worldly things. Lead me, Lord, and give me true respect and love for Your word. Amen.
APPLICATION:
If your cell phone distracts you every time you pray or read the Bible app, use a hard copy of the Bible first. Or, put the cell phone somewhere else during your prayer time.
