Gizmo’s Daily Bible Byte – Conquer evil by doing GOOD – Romans 12:21

Today’s Super Verse is Romans 12:21 – Conquer evil by doing GOOD!

In Romans 12:21, Paul gives us a brief but very profound command. He tells us to overcome evil by doing good. Unlike many other commands, this one is simple. But the truth is, most people have a hard time applying it.

The basic idea is that you should not allow your enemy’s sin to control your emotions. You should respond to his insults with love, not with anger. When you do this, the opponent’s response may change.

When we let our adversary’s sin rule our emotions, we become enraged and depressed. We think that avenging ourselves puts us on par with an unprincipled man. Instead, we should be a loving, amiable friend.

When we respond with kindness, our actions may actually throw a wrench into the enemy’s plan. If our actions are not in line with the enemy’s, he will not only be more receptive to our kindness, but also more willing to forgive us.

Doing good to an enemy is the best way to make him or her your friend. If you do this, your actions will prove that you are more than a conqueror. It is also a powerful demonstration of your relationship with God.

While doing good to an enemy is a great way to demonstrate your faith, you should also keep Christian principles. Otherwise, you may find yourself losing all that you have gained. For example, if you are injured, you should not allow your temper to get the better of you.
