Today’s SuperVerse is John 16:24 – Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.
In Jesus’ Name – John 16:24
The world can make us happy or sad, but it cannot take away the joy that comes from Christ. It is the joy of a relationship with God, based on Christ’s sacrifice for us.
How can we enjoy this joy?
Many people use the term “joy” to describe the kind of emotional uplift that comes from being in external circumstances that they like. But that isn’t really what the Lord Jesus had in mind when He used it to describe his followers’ joy.
Rather, he wanted them to experience the kind of joy that is found only in the resurrected life of Christ. The resurrected life of Christ is one that is filled with love, mercy and grace.
What a great thing to have this kind of joy!
What a wonderful gift from God to have the ability to have a joyful relationship with Jesus, even in our worst times.
But before that happened, they were unsure, confused, afraid, self-centered and selfish. After that, they were wise, surrendered, bold and giving!
In Jesus’ Name – John 17:1-26
If the disciples were on earth in relation with Christ, the Father, and with each other; He now turns to the Father and asks for them a place of blessing which is suitable both to His person and His work. Consequently, this place of blessing has its double ground, the glory of Christ, and His work of redemption.
