Happy Day – Psalm 118:24 – Kim Walker-Smith – Jesus Culture Music

Psalm 118:24 NIV This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

As the Jewish people celebrated the Passover, they sung these Hallel (praise) psalms, including this one. When Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, He probably sang these same words in the Upper Room (Matthew 26:30; Mark 14:26).

In this psalm, God is celebrated for His steadfast love, His deliverance from death, and His ongoing protection and care. These are the things that Christians need to praise God for.

The psalm begins with an invitation to all God’s people to give thanks for His steadfast love. This is a powerful and meaningful way to call out to God for His blessings, especially when they seem so distant from us.

It is also a reminder that our faith in Christ is the only way we can enjoy a new day of victory over death and hell. When we trust in Jesus, He demonstrates the perfect example of a life lived for us, dying on a cross and rising again.

We can be sure that our salvation is assured because of the work of Christ. He died to free us from the power of sin, and rose again to conquer death. And as He rose again, so shall we rise with him to new life and to a new day of eternal victory over the enemy.
