How Great is Our God – Psalm 147:5

Lyrics:
The splendor of the King, clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in Light, and darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
Trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
Age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end
Beginning and the end
The Godhead Three in One
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb
Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God

How great is our God Psalm 1475

When it comes to the greatness of God, how does the Bible say we should praise Him? The Bible does not spell it out for us, but we can lean on His Word for guidance.

The psalmist describes the greatness of God in a few verses, including Psalm 147:5, which says, “How great is our God, who is able to bring justice to the earth!” That is a bold statement, but it does have some weight behind it.

The most obvious reason to praise God is to acknowledge His greatness. For example, how great is it that He knows the number of stars? In addition, how great is it that He is able to heal broken hearts? And last but not least, how big is it that God knows everything?

While the Bible does not tell us the exact number of stars in the sky, the psalmist did mention a few. According to Matthew Poole, the most observable star in the sky is “the most distant of the sun’s rays from the zenith.” Similarly, the Psalmist described a star as “a bright light that flashes and blazes.”

Lastly, the Psalmist mentioned that the “biggest thing” in the universe is God’s creation. From the sun to the stars, God is able to assemble and preserve creation.

There is another very interesting and impressive feat of the psalmist’s scribe. One of the most amazing things about the psalmist is that he was able to describe the biggest thing in the universe in just a few short verses.
