Stand up for what is right
The bible tells us that it’s a person’s responsibility to speak out against injustice and wrongdoing. It’s also a person’s duty to uphold and protect the rights of others.
Daniel was able to do this because of his faith and obedience to the Word of God. He was willing to risk his popularity, his future, his career and even his own life to uphold the standards of the Word of God.
His enemies were jealous and malice against him because he was loyal to God rather than the king. They feared that their influence in the kingdom would be diminished if they could not control Daniel.
They tried to discredit Daniel through every means possible. They questioned his loyalty to the king and sought to create a situation in which he was seen as “unfaithful”.
Despite these attempts, they were unsuccessful. They were forced to find another way to undermine his loyalty and make him unfaithful to the king.
This was when they tried to have Daniel thrown into the lions’ den
While he was in the den, he continued to pray and to make supplication to God. He did this because he knew that it was the safest thing for him to do, since he knew God could save him from any harm that might come to him. He prayed without ceasing, despite the fact that the king had made a decree against prayer for thirty days.
