Lyrics
Verse 1
Oh Lord You’ve searched me
You know my way
Even when I fail You
I know You love me
Verse 2
Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me
Chorus
At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There’s no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now
Verse 3
You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me
Verse 4
And when the earth fades
Falls from my eyes
And You stand before me
I know You love me
I know You love me
Bridge
You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that
It is done
What Happened at the Cross – 1 Peter 2:24
The cross was the site of an extraordinary event. It was there that Jesus took upon himself the weight of the sins of all mankind. He suffered a terrible physical pain but he did not suffer in vain. In fact, he walked through mental suffering similar to that of a guilty person.
What is more, what happened there is relevant to us today. Peter says that we should learn from Jesus’ example. Those of us who are blessed by the Lord are able to look beyond our own egos to see the beauty and majesty of God’s handiwork in our midst.
Taking this concept one step further, we should try to emulate Jesus in every way possible. We should live the good life, and we should be good shepherds to our fellow believers.
As for the cross, the Bible makes clear what it was on which Jesus was crucified. We know that he suffered for our sins and the sins of the world. One interpretation of this is that Christ’s crucifixion was the end of the world. Another is that it was a necessary component of the Passover festival.
Interestingly, the crucifix was the object of many a slanderous accusation. However, this does not necessarily imply that we should be afraid of it. Rather, we should take a more proactive approach, and we should encourage our brethren to withstand the onslaught of evil.
A more practical approach would be to heed the warning of Paul, who advises Christians to avoid the sins of the flesh.
