Today’s Super Verse is 1 John 4:7 – Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
The message of love from God is one of the most important things that we can learn in the Bible. As Christians we are called to love our fellow believers and our enemies. In fact, Christ demonstrated the ultimate form of love. His death on the cross and resurrection are a two-fold example.
We are called to love others by bearing their burdens and speaking the truth to them. One of the best ways to love our neighbors is to show them the love of Jesus. When we practice the gospel of love, we will be a blessing to the world.
Although this passage is relatively short, it does include the big daddy of all adages, the adage about love. There is no point in arguing that love is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but you must be honest about your true state of heart.
What does this verse mean for you? It is not about what is most important to you, but about what is most important to God. He is the best judge of your character and motives. If you are in the wrong, then your best bet is to repent and ask for forgiveness.
This isn’t to say that all Christians have to show unbridled, self-sacrificing love for their fellow Christians, but it does mean that everyone should be actively involved in fostering a love for their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Love is a complex concept. It takes on a variety of guises, such as the adage about loving one’s neighbor, or a sacrificial act. But no matter what it means, it is the most important thing you can do as a Christian.
