I want to be where you are Lord, this is my prayer. I want to feast at your table, dwell in your presence, and be surrounded by your glory. You alone are worthy of worship!
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
In Your Presence
Psalm 27:4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.
To dwell in the presence of God is to be completely in the place where you are; to live there in fullness. There are two ways to live in the presence of God, in the physical world and in the spiritual world. In the physical world, God dwells in a place called the temple or tabernacle; in the spiritual world, God dwells in his people. And God lives with His people, and he wants us to live in His presence.
The Old Testament prophets spoke of a restored temple where the presence of the Lord would dwell. God would fill the new temple and dwell among His people. The physical presence of the Lord is connected to His Spirit, which would be poured out. We could not dwell in the physical world without the presence of God, but we can live in the presence of God by faith in Jesus. To dwell in the presence of God is a place where God dwells with us in our hearts.
To Feast at Your Table
Revelation 19:9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
The Words of Institution are those events that look toward the future. The Lord’s Supper is a future-looking event and contains the finest meats and wines. This meal is also filled with echoes of Old Testament prophecy. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb is described in Revelation, the New Heavens, and the New Earth. The Lamb’s presence is fulfilled in the New Heavens and the New Earth.
Surrounded by Your Glory
Revelation 21:11 Having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
Our worship of God must include the concept of “glory”. This word describes God’s attributes and perfections, and it is the ultimate goal of all our efforts. In the Bible, we find passages like Exodus and Ezekiel abounding with stories of God doing great things in our names. Even Peter’s death was done for God’s glory. But how can we truly know this?
Glory is a broad category, representing God’s worth, majesty, beauty, and splendor. It is a manifestation of God’s presence, and its meaning varies from person to person. In Scripture, it is associated with the incarnation of Christ, the ark of the covenant, the temple in Ezekiel, and the eschatological temple. Glory also relates to the cross and resurrection.
The King of GLORY dwells in the LORD’s house, and Jesus will come in His own glory and that of His Father. When we worship Him, we are worshiping Him, His Father, and His Holy Angels. Our glory will cover the heavens and the earth, and all things will be filled with His glory. We will never be the same! We will be in heaven with the Lord of Glory!
