This animated Bible story for kids tells the story of Jesus in the Temple. We referenced the following Biblical passages: Luke 2:41-52 ASV

Luke’s story of Jesus in the Temple is the only incident in the Gospels to take place in the early years of Jesus’ life. It is also the only passage in the Gospels to give an account of Jesus as a child.

When Mary and Joseph took their son to Jerusalem for Passover, they expected to find him among the pilgrims. But when they didn’t find him, they thought he was lost. So they searched for him in nearby towns and villages. They even looked for him with their relatives and acquaintances. Then they realized that he was still in Jerusalem.

When they found him in the Temple, they were very surprised. Nevertheless, they were worried.

After the incident, Jesus’ parents drove a day’s journey to find their son. Once they found him, they were shocked at how he behaved and spoke. However, they didn’t understand what he had said.

He was twelve years old at this time. This was the age when a Jewish male was expected to enter the yoke of the law. His knowledge and insight about the Law were more profound than the average man.

He was a child who was growing in wisdom and stature. He also was increasing in his relationship with God. While he was in the temple, he was interacting with the teachers. Everyone was amazed at his answers.

Some scholars believe this story is an apocryphal legend. Others see it as the only incident between the birth of Jesus and his public ministry.
