Nahum 1:7 – The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him,
Nahum 1:7 is a powerful statement of God’s love and kindness toward his people. It tells us that God is good to those who trust in him even when the trials seem to get really intense.
God is good and he will be a stronghold in the day of trouble for those who put their trust in him. He knows those who take refuge in him and that’s what we need to do today!
It’s hard to understand this text because the Assyrians were bringing terrible judgment upon the nation of Israel. But what you need to remember is that this is God’s plan and he knows exactly what he is doing.
This is a great example of how God works through our enemies to save us. He crushed Nineveh so that he could crush their enemies and save the remnant of his people.
The Prophet has been saying that the Lord’s anger, wrath and fury will be unleashed on the city of Nineveh like fire if they refuse to repent and turn from their evil ways. But then we see in verse 7 that he will be a stronghold for those who trust in him and that’s what we need tonight!
What a ray of hope this gives to the people of God and those who love them. It’s a great way to adjust our vision and see the holiness and justice of God.
