Shout to the Lord – Psalm 98:4 – Hillsong Worship

’Shout To The Lord’ from the Hillsong Worship album ’People Just Like Us’ released in July 1994.

My Jesus
My Saviour
Lord there is none like You
All of my days
I want to praise
The wonders of Your mighty love

My comfort
My shelter
Tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath
All that I am
Never cease to worship You

Shout to the Lord
All the earth let us sing
Power and majesty
Praise to the King
Mountains bow down
And the seas will roar
At the sound of Your Name

I sing for joy
At the work of Your hands
Forever I’ll love You
Forever I’ll stand
Nothing compares to
The promise I have in You

Shout to the Lord – Psalm 98:4

Shout to the Lord Psalm 984

Shouting to the Lord is something that believers have been instructed to do. It is also a mark of triumph and success. There are many places in the Scriptures that give instructions on how to praise God.

The first commandment instructs us to praise the Lord. This may be done with words or in musical strains. For example, Psalm 98:4 commands a group of musicians to make a joyful noise to the Lord.

Another instruction in the Bible is found in Psalm 47:1, which says that nations are to shout to the Lord. Although this is an exhortation to the entire earth, it is particularly directed at the children of Israel.

In other words, the children of Israel were to shout to the LORD to collapse the walls of Jericho. While a shout is an expression of joy and enthusiasm, it should not be accompanied by hysterical emotionalism. Rather, the praise should come from those who are praising the LORD.

Other places in the Scriptures give a similar instruction to the children of Israel. They were to shout to the LORD to defeat the enemies of Israel.

This idea is reflected in the book of Acts, where Paul and Silas sing loudly in jail. And, in the New Testament, we see God’s work of salvation throughout the world, far beyond the expectations of the psalmist.

Regardless of the type of praises we sing, the lyrics should be full of the Spirit. We should make a joyful noise before the Lord, whether it be with a ram’s horn trumpet or harp.
