And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.
Since then, the stubbornness of people’s heads and hearts has been widespread. In Ezekiel, we can read God’s message for the people of Israel. They are God’s chosen people. God brought them out of Egypt where they were enslaved and tortured, and brought them to the Promised Land.
But despite God’s goodness and great love, the Israelites chose to rebel against Him. They sinned again and again, complained, made idols, and forgot all the good things God had done to them. Because of this, their hearts were hardened and became evil.
This is what happens to our hearts when we continue to sin. With our repeated disobedience, our hearts become more hardened and the warmth of our love for God gradually disappears. But in God’s grace and great love for us, he will not allow His creations to remain hard-hearted.
This is God’s promise to those who will approach Him again and turn away from their sins: “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 36:26).
Do you feel like your heart is turning to stone because of the sins you have committed? Do you want to have a fervent heart for God? Good news! God can give you a new heart that beats for Him if you draw near to Him.
Let’s Pray
Lord, I ask You for a new heart, a heart that obeys and loves You. I admit that I have been stubborn and I have sinned against You. Thank you that through Your Son Jesus, there is forgiveness and new life. Help me to live for you Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Check your heart. Are there other things that cause your heart to harden? Ask God to show them to you, and by the grace of God, get rid of them. Fill your heart with the Word of God and desire God and the things about Him.
