Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31 ESV
There’s a song in the 90s and the first lyrics of the song say,
Do not be afraid.
Don’t you know I’m just here?
By your side
I will never leave you
It’s a good feeling to be told this, right? In this day and age where social media, television, and radio are flooded with bad news, it is very easy to give in to fear. But whenever we know that we have someone with us who will never leave us, it’s like ice cream that melts all our fears. We become braver.
That is exactly God’s promise to you. Matthew 10:29-31 is just one of the many verses in the Bible that proves that God is so mindful of you. According to the verse, if the sparrows that He created are kept by Him, and He does even know the exact number of your strands of hair?
Fear has the power to cripple us. Every time we let it swallow us, it hinders us from fully enjoying the life that God has given to us. But even though fear is hard to fight, it’s nothing compared to the power of God’s love for you. It says in 1 John 4:18 (ESV): “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”
Trust that God will always take care of you and He will never leave you because He loves you. Do not be afraid.
What are you afraid of? Let’s surrender that to Him now.
LET’S PRAY:
Lord, I’m afraid. Remind me that I am not alone, that I am with You. I accept Your love for me today. I let Your love melt the fear I feel. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
APPLICATION:
Write 1 John 4:18 on a piece of paper and put it somewhere you see it often, whether it’s in your bedroom or the office. Memorize it, take it to heart, and let it remind you of God’s love for you.
