The Old Has Gone The New Is Here
When you believe in Christ, you’re made a new creation. That means that your status in God’s eyes has changed from something that’s degraded, polluted, and broken into a pristine, perfect image of who you were created to be before you accepted Jesus as your Savior.
You have been given the power to become a new creation in Christ and to live for Him and not for yourself (Gal 2:20). This is the promise of salvation that all who trust in Jesus will receive as their inheritance.
The new creature is a work of grace and supernatural regeneration by the Holy Spirit. The efficient cause is the Word of God, but the instrumental cause is the turning of the will to God through faith in Jesus.
This is a transformation in the heart that makes the person like God, in the same way, that Jesus was transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit on the road to Damascus. This is a lifelong process in which you will be continually becoming more and more like the person who saved you.
Your heart is constantly in conflict with sin because of your new status as a believer. But the good news is that your Lord will give you all the tools you need to fight this battle against sin. The key to fighting this battle is your willingness to let the Lord transform you.
