A man reaps what he sows
God’s law is plain and clear. What we sow, whether it is financial seed, or our time and talent, is what we will reap.
This is a principle that goes back to the beginning of creation when we sowed and reaped fruit from the garden of Eden. There are some exceptions due to the fall of the world, or because of the sovereign plan of God, but in 99% of cases this principle applies to all areas of our lives.
We can see the practical application of this concept in a farmer’s life when he sows seed into his field and then waits for a crop to grow and reap. If he sows wheat, he will eventually have a harvest of wheat and can enjoy the joy of watching the harvest grow.
Similarly, the Christian who sows in love and good works will reap an abundance of blessings from the Lord. This is why the apostle Paul urges us not to grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:8).
The Christian who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Lord
This is a principle that is very clear and simple for the agrarian people who lived during the first century. In fact, most people in Paul’s original audience would have understood the idea of sowing and reaping from their farming experience.
