The Promises of God
In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord promises to bring back his people from exile and not harm them. Originally this verse was addressed to a group of Jews who were living in captivity under the rule of Nebuchadnezzar in Babylon, but it has also been used by Christians as a promise to anyone who is suffering.

Many believers look at this passage of scripture as a promise to have all that they want in life – prosperity, health, and success. While these things are definitely part of the Gospel, they are not the only things that God will provide for us.
What is the difference between “prosperity and not harm” and the promises of shalom?
First of all, the promise of prosperity does not mean a quick end to all your struggles. It refers to the restoration of your relationship with God and a steadfast belief that He will be present in your life throughout your trials.

The promise of shalom is a future reality in which all of us have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and the world is no longer under the curse of sin. It is a future where we will experience a relationship with God that will not only give us hope but also peace and joy in our hearts and minds, even when we are going through the most difficult times of our lives.
