God’s power
Matthew 19:26Â ESV
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
God’s Word reveals several ways He protects His people. He watches over those He has called to do His work and bear witness for Him. The Bible is filled with examples of how He protects His servants from life-threatening situations. He promises to never leave His people. In Deuteronomy 6, He tells His people to love God with their whole hearts and soul. In other passages, He tells His people to fear God and not tempt Him. In particular, the book of Esther demonstrates how we can be protected from pagan armies.
His faithfulness
Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
In Psalm 91, God promises deliverance and protection. As a believer, you have no need to fear because He will always be with you, even in your worst moments. He is our refuge, our strength, and our defense. Through His faithfulness, we are guaranteed protection, deliverance, and long life. Let Him be your strength and protection in this world and for eternity!
His love
John 3:16Â ESV For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
The Bible’s Psalm 91 promises deliverance and protection in the midst of evil. It also promises long life and satisfaction in the midst of trials. We may not understand the meaning of the words “protect” and “protection” but these terms describe God’s love for us. The psalmist compared the protection of God’s love to the Holy of Holies, the earthly representation of God’s throne in heaven. Only the high priest was permitted to enter this holy place except on the Day of Atonement.
His promise to Abraham
Genesis 12:1 ESV Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
Galatians 3:29Â ESV And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.
The first of God’s promises to Abram is the promise of his “seed.” He had circumcised Abram about ten years before his wife, Sarai, was due to give birth to her child. Nine years later, God’s wrath was poured out on Sodom, destroying the city, leaving Lot and his daughters to flee. God had promised Abram protection and deliverance, but he was not willing to accept it.
His promise to Job
Job understood God’s protection when he was facing many trials and tribulations. God’s promises to His people never fail. When we are in the midst of despair, we need a God who can protect us from all harm. God promises protection for Job in Psalm 91:11.
His promise to Elisha
Elisha was surrounded by the horses of the king of Syria. Elisha told his servant that he was afraid and prayed to God for protection. Then, God answered his prayer. He saw heavenly angels surrounding him and ministering to the helpless and weak ones of the Lord. The servant saw God’s angels as a cloud of protection and deliverance. Elisha was sure that God would protect him.
