The Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31:30

Proverbs 31:30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

As a 21st Century woman, you may be thinking that the virtuous women described in Proverbs 31:10-31 are archaic and dated. But, if you read on and think about the context of this passage and what it means to us today, you will see that it is just as profound and relevant for you as it was for King Lemuel’s mother.

The ‘Virtuous Woman: Her Character and Attitudes

A virtuous woman displays integrity, honor, trust, productivity, common sense, practical love, and hard work. She is a person of value to others and has strong character strengths that will last much longer than her appearances.

Her virtues and characteristics are rooted in her relationship with God, which is reflected in her daily life and the way she conducts herself. She is also faithful to her husband and to her children.

Using Her Resources

When she is busy with her family and her duties, she uses her time and talents to serve them. Whether she is helping her husband with his business, or taking care of their household, or preparing food for her family, she serves them as a loving act.

Serving her family is an important part of being a virtuous woman and it’s easy to do. The next time you are at church or grocery shopping, look around for someone who could use your help and serve them!

While there is a place for charm, elegance and favor in society, these qualities are not always the best. They can be a gateway to deception and evil in the heart. So, a good virtuous woman should not give her heart to any one who isn’t trustworthy in their words and actions.
