God Promises Protection
The Bible is full of examples of how God protected His people–from the Exodus when Pharaoh’s army pursued Moses and God opened the Red Sea for them (Exodus 14), to David’s protection from Saul (1 Samuel 23:14), to Daniel in a lion’s den (Daniel 6). It also includes stories of current-day believers who have experienced the same kind of miraculous protection.
In this psalm, God promises that He will protect His people even when they are tempted. He will not allow temptation to go beyond our ability, but He will give us the strength to overcome it (see Hebrews 2:18-19).
He will keep you from being harmed by enemies. He will provide you with ways of escape, so that you may be able to endure your trials and persecutions without losing your faith.
This is a comforting assurance to those who are spiritually ill, because they know that no matter how bad their situation is, they will have the protection of God. He will help them through their struggles and bring them to the place where they can experience a full, abundant life with him in heaven.
When we face trials and tribulations in this world, it can be easy to forget that we are part of a bigger picture that God is working out. That’s why it’s so important to rely on the power of God, no matter what the situation. The best way to do this is to saturate your heart with the protection promises in Psalm 91 and let them take root in your heart.
