4 Hear, O Israel: [a]Jehovah our God is one Jehovah: 5 and thou shalt love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart; 7 and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates.

The Basics – Deuteronomy 6:4-9
There are many people who go to church regularly but never get very far beyond the “Sunday School” stories and their basic understanding of what the Bible says. They may know a few stories about the life of Jesus and maybe they have some basic Christian terminology but they are not sure what the big picture is all about.
So what is Christianity all about?
Christians believe that God sent his son Jesus into human form to teach people about his love, mercy, and justice. His followers came to believe that he was the Messiah, the Savior of the world.
They also believe that he was a good parent, bringing people out of slavery to sin and death, through his resurrection.
Christianity is the largest and most popular religion in the world, with roughly 2.4 billion followers.
The Bible teaches that there is only one true God, who formed the universe and created everything we see and experience in our lives. It also teaches that we should worship only Him, no other gods.
This is why it is so important to understand the basics of the Bible. When we are biblically illiterate, it is harder for us to understand the Bible’s bigger picture and how it connects to our daily lives.
