Without faith it is impossible to please God – Hebrews 11:6

The author of Hebrews points out that it is impossible for anyone to draw near to God unless they believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. Then he lists some Old Testament figures whose actions prove their belief in God.

The Hebrew word for faith in this verse is emunah, which means firmness, steadfastness, and fidelity. It is also a common word in the New Testament, appearing over 200 times. This is the word that Paul uses when he says, “No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised” (Romans 4:20-21).
