But Those Who Hope in the Lord Will Renew Their Strength – Isaiah 40:31
God is the ultimate source of all power and strength. His inexhaustible supply of grace, mercy, and love can help us overcome every temptation that comes our way. He can give you the strength to endure the hardships of life and keep you in perfect peace when you are feeling overwhelmed by your circumstances.
In the first chapter of Isaiah, the prophet is speaking to the Jewish people as they were about to be taken into exile in Babylonian captivity. They were in a state of despair and uncertainty. During this time, they questioned their faith.
Despite their doubts, the LORD had spoken through Isaiah to give them hope that God would restore His people to their land. He would also provide them with the resources they needed to survive their captivity and that they would be able to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem.
The Israelites were to be in the wilderness for forty years. In order to prepare them for this, Isaiah had spoken of their strength being renewed like the wings of an eagle (Isa 40:31).
When you have a strong faith and trust in God, you will be able to face your trials with courage and confidence. When you are in your weakest and most vulnerable state, God will bring you out of it and use you to minister His strength to others.
