Do not be anxious about anything – Philippians 4:6
In this letter, Paul addresses some of the concerns that his church in Philippi was facing. They were undergoing persecution, starting to face selfishness among members, and experiencing false teaching.
The key to these issues is not in solving them or addressing them, but rather in giving them over to God and trusting Him to deal with them. This can be done in a number of ways.
1. Don’t worry about anything – verse 6: Instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done for you.
2. Thanksgiving is a response to the things that God has already done for you – verse 7: When we are thankful for what He has already provided, we can then turn our attention to what we need now, even in difficult times.
3. The peace of God – verse 8: When we are in trouble and need some help, we can lean on the peace that comes from God. This is a peace that transcends all understanding and guards our hearts and minds as we follow Christ.
4. The Lord is near – verse 8: When we are in trouble and in need, our thoughts must always be on the Lord and not on ourselves or what we are going through.
5. The Lord is faithful – verse 9: When we are in trouble and in need, we can always trust that the Lord will be there for us.
